Depression

By using rope and a frightened looking face, there is a clear message of pain and suffering. When turned around, even the back has cracks and small band-aids trying to cover up the deep pain. 14in x 13in x 5in

Paranoia

In this piece, the black glaze represents the bad thoughts overcoming the white, or the good thoughts. By marbleizing the glazes together it creates a sense of fear in the viewer of the bad overcoming the good. 4in x 10in x 7in

Bipolar

Each side is a different color to show the different moods within a bipolar disorder sufferer. Heavy chain is used to represent someone being tied down and restricted. 10in x 13in x 2in

PTSD

PTSD sufferers are often war veterans. The spiral of silver stained porcelain is wrapping around a ball of exploding porcelain, almost as if it were being shot at, similar to what it may feel like having been in war and living with those horrible memories forever. 3in x 5in x 5in

Delusional Disorder

4in x 18in x 8in

Delusional Disorder

Delusional disorder relates to experiencing hallucinations. I created an interesting form out of a slab of clay and added splatter paint on the back of the piece to represent a dream-like piece. 4in x 18in x 8in

OCD

Those with OCD are labeled as "perfectionists". I made a piece with four "perfect" squares and one odd square that stands out. This one odd square has a different shape, color and texture to it, ruining the column of perfect squares. 12in x 4in x 4in

Anorexia

Anorexia is a disease that affects millions and forces people to become obsessed with their weight, body image, or diet. Measuring tape is used in the piece to give the idea of being conscious of your weight and image, as those affected by the disease constantly do. 18in x 15in x 8in

Schizophrenia

8in x 6in x 7in

Anxiety

Those with anxiety feel alone and restricted. By surrounding a fragile egg shell with barbed wire and chain, it evokes feelings of loneliness and fragility. Anxiety itself is a restricting disease by not allowing people to speak up for themselves out of fear of what could go wrong. 5in x 5in x 5in

Schizophrenia

This piece shows several deteriorating faces that look as if they are melting. Schizophrenia sufferers often have hallucinations of faces or objects that aren’t there that may look deformed and frightening. When viewing the piece, each angle shows a different face or view. 8in x 6in x 7in
